ONLY A DAD  / SHELLY

Only A Dad

Only a dad with a tired face,
Coming home from the daily race,
Bringing little of gold or fame
To show how well he has played the game;
But glad in his heart that his own rejoice
To see him come and to hear his voice.

Only a dad with a brood of four,
One of ten million men or more
Plodding along in the daily strife,
Bearing the whips and the scorns of life,
With never a whimper of pain or hate,
For the sake of those who at home await.

Only a dad, neither rich nor proud,
Merely one of the surging crowd,
Toiling, striving from day to day,
Facing whatever may come his way,
Silent whenever the harsh condemn,
And bearing it all for the love of them.

Only a dad but he gives his all,
To smooth the way for his children small,
Doing with courage stern and grim
The deeds that his father did for him.
This is the line that for him I pen:
Only a dad, but the best of men.

POEM FROM GRANDPA TONY, TO DAD AND UNCLE ANTHONY  / SHELLY (DAUGHTER)  Read >>
POEM FROM GRANDPA TONY, TO DAD AND UNCLE ANTHONY  / SHELLY (DAUGHTER)

"211"

Do you know your Dad likes a big hug too?
Not just a strong shake of his hand
Be not ashamed to warmly embrace
A kiss on his cheek, he'll understand

He wants to hear you always say
I love you Dad loud and clear
ask God to bless and guide his life
cause him not to fret, or shed a tear

Dads are softies for praise and love
They may need our strength when distressed
So don't ignore them or forget their needs
Give them a hug, let them feel blessed

A handshake, a smile, a sign that you care
A good morning, how are you, or "Hey there"
Whenever needed say "May I help you please?"
Then troubles are solved, with love and with ease.

A look of compassion to someone in pain
Judge not the lowly, just be humane
Now look around you, what do you see?
All God's creatures, pleased with thee

Missing that funny laugh  / SIS (daughter)
Hi Dad, I was just thinking about you this very early morning, and I thought I would just let you know I miss you so very much.  I think about you each and everyday.  I remember what you always used to tell us, that someday you would be gone, and all we will have is each other.  I knew it to be true, but I never thought this day would come so soon.  It is so hard to believe that you have been gone from our lives for 8 months now.  Each day gets harder, and every holiday is unbearable.  You know when mom died two weeks to the day before you, it was terrifying to think that I lost her, and then came you leaving me to, I'm not sure what Gods plan is but, I know he must have a good one if he took the both of you from this insane world.  It sure is ironic though that you to are no longer here, you must be in heaven now together after all these years, knowing in your hearts that you two still loved each other even after all the hell you both went through.  I could see the hurt in your face when I told you that mom had died, and I don't know if maybe you died from a broken heart, or you two were just meant to be together no matter what, but what ever the reason is, I want you to know how much I love you both, and I know each day that passes, is a doy closer that I will see you again someday, so Dad, tell Mom I love her, and you guys keep a close eye on me and my family, Keep us all safe, for you and mom are my "Guardian Angels".
Love you Sis
